You will need the following material:
- an auger (diameter = 3 cm)
- a level
Here are the steps to follow:
-
Choose your location.
Choose a flat and uncovered area, avoid proximity to walls, buildings, trees and any other obstacle that could shield the weather station.
Ideally the distance between the weather station and an obstacle should be superior to 4 times the height of the obtacle.
- Make a hole that is 50cm deep with the help of an auger (diameter = 3 cm).
-
Push the pole of the weather station until the green mark.
Place the pole of the weather station with the green mark facing down. Then push the pole until that green mark.
-
Assemble the station and the pole.
Tighten the station to the pole by using the butterfly screw, then position the funnel.
-
Position the level on the weather station to check that it is horizontal.
Horizontality is essential to ensure reliable and accurate rainfall measurements.
- Seal the hole of the pole to ensure the stability of the weather station.
-
Place the bird spikes and the grid on the funnel.
First place 3 bird picks evenly spaced around the funnel, then place the grid.
Finally, place the last 3 bird picks, evenly placed over the funnel. -
Screw the antenna on the box.
- Pick up the sensor's serial number, it will be asked to connect it to the Weenat-App.
-
Log in to the Weenat-App.
Add the sensor to the App by clicking on the + (located in the top right corner of your screen) then on A sensor. Add the weather station's serial number.
-
Link your sensor to your plot by following the steps in this article 👉How to link a sensor to my plot?
The synchronisation of the data between the sensor and the app can take up to 15 minutes, just in time for a coffee break 😉.
