How to maintain my Capacitive probe

  • Updated

The Capacitive Probe now has a green cap and a diameter of 32 mm.
The information presented in this article remains valid.

To ensure your Capacitive Probe remains accurate, just a few simple maintenance steps are enough:

  1. Check that the antenna is correctly positioned: it should be upright and properly screwed in.
  2. Inspect the casing for any damage: it must be completely intact and properly closed.
  3. The sensor must be properly inserted into the soil. A crack in the soil around the Capacitive Probe can lead to inaccurate measurements — in this case, remove it and reinstall it nearby.

You can also extend the lifespan of your sensors by winterizing them once the irrigation season is over:

  1. Carefully remove the Capacitive Probe from the ground when the soil is moist: ideally just after the final irrigation of the season or after heavy watering around the sensor.
  2. Use a damp sponge or cloth to wipe off any soil on the PVC tubes.
  3. To finish cleaning the probe, immerse it in water and remove any remaining soil with a sponge — avoid using the abrasive side.
  4. Store your sensors horizontally in a dry place, protected from frost and dust.
