If you want to test your tensiometers before reinstalling them, or if you have doubts about one during the season, here is a simple test to check if your sensor is responding properly:
-
Preparation: Let the ceramic tip of your tensiometer soak in water for 1 hour, then hang it up to dry in the open air.Â
- The ceramic tip must be fully immersed.Â
- Perform this test outdoors so the sensor can transmit normally.Â
 -
Verification:Â
A. Log into the app and check the latest values sent by your sensor: the kPa should have dropped to between 0 and 10. If so, move on to step B.
B. Let the sensor dry in open air for 30 to 48 hours. Depending on temperature, humidity, and airflow, the reading should rise from zero to over 150.Â
C. Finally, place the sensor back in water. The kPa should drop back below 10 within 15 minutes. If the sensor passes these tests, it’s in good condition.
If in doubt or if you notice an issue, feel free to contact our customer support at support@weenat.com and provide the sensor number(s).
